Rouge Community College
As
the chancellor of St. Louis Community College, Myrtle E.B. Dorsey
serves as the chief executive officer of a multi-campus college system
consisting of four campuses offering more than 100 career and transfer
academic programs. STLCC serves more than 81,000 students annually with
an operating budget of $165.8 million.
Prior
to joining STLCC in June 2011, Dorsey served as chancellor of Baton
Rouge Community College for nearly nine years. Under her leadership,
Baton Rouge Community College obtained accreditation and reaffirmation
of accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Dorsey
is the immediate past chair of the American Association of Community
Colleges (AACC) Board of Directors, after serving as chair for 2011-12.
She serves on the AACC's 21st Century Commission on the Future of
Community Colleges. Dorsey represented the organization at the first
White House Summit on Community Colleges in October 2010. She also is a
member of the executive board for the State Networks of the American
Council on Education's Office of Women in Higher Education.
Locally,
Dorsey serves on the board of the Missouri Botanical Garden, the Urban
League of Metropolitan St. Louis, the United Way of Metropolitan St.
Louis, and the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association. She
also is a member of the Mayor's Commission on Children, Youth &
Families.
Honors
Dorsey has received include the Baton Rouge Brotherhood Sisterhood
Award, the NAACP Freedom Fund Community Service Award and the National
Institute for Staff and Organizational Development's Master Teacher
Award.
Prior
to her serving as chancellor at Baton Rouge Community College, Dorsey
held leadership positions at Baltimore City Community College, Georgia
Perimeter College, and Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.
Dorsey
earned her doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin and holds
bachelor's and master's degrees from Morgan State University.
