Family Physician
Dr. Harrington is excited to be serving the Fredericksburg
area in his new office which opened in November of 2008. He has lived in
Fredericksburg since 1989 and has served in the surrounding communities
of Garrisonville and King George. When the opportunity to move his
practice closer to home presented itself in 2008, Dr. Harrington was
pleased to relocate. The hardest part of moving was knowing that the
distance would be too great for some of his established patients to
travel. Dr. Harrington, however, is grateful for the many patients that
have chosen to follow him to this new location. He is also looking
forward to spending the rest of his career in his home town and
establishing new long-term patient doctor relationships here.
Dr. Harrington enjoys the specialty of Family Medicine especially
because of the age spectrum it incorporates. He loves seeing patients
from newborns to seniors. Being closely family oriented, he enjoys
getting to know entire families as well as individual patients. Dr.
Harrington believes practicing medicine is a privilege and a calling. He
takes his work seriously and strives to be thorough in caring for each
and every patient.
Throughout his career, Dr. Harrington has maintained his Board
Certification. He has also served in the area as a medical director of a
nursing home for nine years and a medical consultant of Snowden for
five years. In addition to this, Dr. Harrington had a hospital practice
out of Mary Washington Hospital for fourteen years. Now he intends to
provide the best medical care possible to the community of
Fredericksburg from the office setting.
Chris Harrington grew up in Arlington, Virginia. He went to VA Tech
and graduated in Chemical Engineering, then completed Medical School at
UVA in 1986. Dr Harrington then married Ruth Deck and moved to North
Carolina for family practice residency at North Carolina Baptist
Hospital; associated with Wake Forest University.
After finishing residency, Dr. Harrington came to Fredericksburg in
1989 and joined a multi-specialty group where he worked for 14 years in
Garrisonville. In 2003, Dr. Harrington decided to go into private
practice and due to an opportunity as well as to satisfy a non-compete
clause, he opened an office in King George, VA, where he served for five
years.
Outside of the office, Dr. Harrington can be seen spending the
majority of his time with his busy family. He and his wife Ruth are
blessed with six children, four of which are still at home. So, between
swim meets, soccer, softball, baseball, school plays, etc. , Dr.
Harrington stays quite busy. He is also an active member of New Life In
Christ Church in Fredericksburg. As for other activities, Dr. Harrington
enjoys cycling through the battle fields with his wife Ruth.
Dr. Harrington is looking forward to establishing meaningful patient
doctor relationships here in Fredericksburg and is excited to be serving
here as your family practice physician.
