Jeff Kolin was appointed as City Manager for Beverly Hills in January 2010. Prior to joining Beverly Hills, he was City Manager for the California cities of Santa Rosa and Pittsburg, and Deputy City Manager for the City of Santa Clarita.
His career in local government began more than 30 years ago in a part-time job while he attended Cal State Long Beach, where he received both a B.A. and an M.A. in sociology. His career has involved innovative and unique projects such as the Santa Clara River Recreation and Trail Master Plan, construction of the Pittsburg Civic Center and Public Safety Building, Santa Rosa’s Prince Memorial Greenway, the formation of municipal gas and electric utilities and, in Beverly Hills, reducing long-term liabilities for post employment benefits and managing employee benefit costs. Under his leadership, communities have earned numerous awards including an All American City designation and the prestigious Helen Putnam Award.
Mr. Kolin is Vice President of the California City Managers Foundation, and an International City/County Managers Association Credentialed Manager. He is an active member of the Beverly Hills Rotary Club.
A strong believer in customer-oriented local government, Mr. Kolin has built unique partnerships with nonprofit organizations, citizens and private businesses to meet the needs of communities in a rapidly changing environment.
